April 2020
Dear PALS and Caregivers,
I wake up early in the morning (many mornings recently) and can’t sleep because I want to share what I have learned about staying healthy with the people I love. I have added some things to our nutrition routine to help prevent getting (or at least overcoming quickly) the corona virus or any other bug that heads our way. I believe the washing of hands is important and the social distancing may be a good idea, but there is absolutely nothing in the media about how we can take care of our bodies to reduce the risk of the bugs having a hay-day in them.
I have watched for years family and friends getting sick after Christmas. What could possibly lead up to that? Let’s start with Halloween and the candy binge. Then comes Thanksgiving and the overload on pies (pies made with white flour, massive amounts of sugar, and shortening, one of the worst fats there is.) Then Christmas comes with more pies and overeating followed right after with New Years overindulgence.
Let me share some of the things we are doing to help prevent health problems. This may be more concise than the information I put up in March.
Vitamin C: All fresh fruits are good for Vitamin C with kiwis and green peppers being especially high.
Vitamin D3: Good for immune support: Since you cannot get Vitamin D from the sun in the winter in the north, I found a supplement that is a tiny pill that dissolves under the tongue. Vitamin D3 is a natural source of vitamin D your body can use. Vitamin D2 is synthetic and has a long list of nasty side effects. Here is where I get those 5000 IU tiny pills that Kim and I take. The website also sells the 400 IU and the 1000 IU amounts. The brand is Superior Source and can be found at www.swansonvitamins.com. Here is the link: https://www.swansonvitamins.com/superior-source-vitamin-d3-5000-iu-microlingual-5000-iu-100-tabs
Baking soda: Our standard American diet is highly acidic. Health is maintained when our body remains close to an alkaline level versus a highly acidic level. Baking soda helps to alkalize your body. One half teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of water, maybe once a day for a while, would be helpful. It really has no taste. Baking soda also helps to oxygenate your body. This corona virus seems to have to do with the lack of adequate oxygen, or the lungs ability to use it. (By the way, all fruits and vegetables are alkaline, while everything else in the food realm is some level of acidity.) Disease loves a low oxygen environment and acidity.
Selenium: Selenium will help kill viruses. Selenium is found in brazil nuts. Kim and I have one or two every morning.
Colloidal silver: Colloidal silver can help kill viruses. We keep it on hand in case a cold wants to sneak in on us. It has helped Kim knock a sore throat or oncoming cold, in 2-3 days. You can take 1 teaspoon 3-4 times a day in water or just take it straight. It has no taste. We buy our colloidal silver from www.utopiasilver.com.
Iodine: I read that iodine kills viruses. Iodine also helps with thyroid issues. I found a bottle of iodine drops at the health food store and put one drop in our morning drink each day.
Zinc: Zinc helps disable viruses in the cells or something like that. Cold Ease or another zinc tablet at the first sign of a cold can help kick it right away.
Ginger: Ginger is antiviral. I cut off a small chunk maybe ¾ of an inch of ginger root and cut it up a little bit. I pore hot water over it and let it sit for some time for the ginger to work its way out into the water. I add a couple of drops of Stevia to mine and Kim adds some raw honey.
Coconut oil: Coconut oil is also antiviral. Swansonvitamins.com sells a coconut oil both natural and with no coconut flavor. And it costs lots less to buy coconut oil from Swansonvitamins.com than buying it at the store. Coconut oil at below 76 degrees is hard like shortening, and above 76 degrees is a liquid.
Hydration: Staying hydrated is also important to avoid bugs. Soda pop dehydrates your body. Alcohol also dehydrates and caused magnesium deficiency. Water should be free of fluoride and toxic chemicals but still contain the needed minerals.
Magnesium: Magnesium is responsible for hundreds of functions in the body. Magnesium is not replenished in the soils, so it is hard to get enough in our diet. Our body’s biggest users of magnesium are our heart and our brain. What are two leading health issues of our day? Heart disease and the neurological issues (MS, Parkinson‘s, dementia, Alzheimer’s, ALS, etc.) Drinking fluoridated water prevents magnesium from being absorbed in the body. Magnesium can ease depression, panic attacks, etc. (How about all the stress from listening to the negative dire predictions and scare tactics in the news?) Magnesium is often deleted by medications.
A good magnesium and the least expensive is food grade magnesium chloride flakes. You can go to www.myworldhut.com and order one pound if you would like to try it. (One pound lasts a long time.) In the search window for myworldhut.com, put in “food grade magnesium chloride flakes”. When it comes, put one half teaspoon of flakes in one quart of water. (Keep the flakes tightly sealed as they will dissolve in a humid climate.) You can drink that through the day. No taste again. You could even add the baking soda to it. Magnesium helps Vitamin D to be metabolized.
Hopefully I have given you some ideas of what you can do to improve your chances of not getting the corona virus or at least have a very mild case.
We have absolutely amazing bodies that God has given us. We need to care for them in order for them to serve us properly.
Pick and choose some things you think you can do to improve your health as well as preventing getting the virus at the same time. Everything we eat, the air we breathe and what we rub on our skin or nails affects our health.
Our hope and prayer is for you to stay well in these uncertain times.
