Eric Edney
Entry from sometime in 2014:
The first success we need to include is Eric Edney. He has been battling ALS since the early 1990s (diagnosed in 1993) and currently is still doing well. We have not met him personally but have communicated by email. He has included Kim's story on one of his updates. His website is www.ericiswinning.com. He has published two books. We have read them both. He has studied extensively for many years to find ways to beat this disease. We all have much to learn from him. Eric was 59 when he was diagnosed.
Entry from 2015.
Eric suffered a stroke and a heart attack in the fall of 2014. He never completely recovered from either one. He passed away January 3, 2015. Many years ago, his doctor told him that he would not die of ALS and that has come true. He was 85 when he died.
Eric requested that his website remain active after his passing. It still provides so much valuable information and he still wants to share it. It is a very valuable resource.
Steven Shackel
Steven was diagnosed with ALS in 1994. He has studied extensively and been in contact with hundreds of persons with ALS. He has a very valuable website that needs to be studied carefully. www.shackel.org.
Dr. Craig Oster
Dr. Oster has had ALS for more than 20 years now. He was on hospice and kicked out of the program because of his improvement. He has rebuilt muscle which is not supposed to be able to do.

William Riffle
William has survived ALS for over 26 years. He has written a book on what he did to heal. Here is his website.

Butch Machlan
Email from Butch writing to the healthadvocatesworldwide.com people:
I just read about what your organization is doing, and would like to “throw my name into the hat!” I have FALS, which I inherited from my mother. She died in 1986 after eight years of fighting it. When she died all she could move was her eyes.
My FALS (famalial ALS) started in early 2007. I am now in my 8th year, and still walking with the aid of crutches. My ALS progression has stopped, and in some cases reversed. I’ve attached something I send to people who want details on my changes. It’s not been updated for some time because things have pretty much stabilized. I credit my success (so far) to a daily regiment of 9 tablespoons of coconut oil and a crystal type magnesium chloride and water mixture. I know these things have caused the improvements because I started tracking my progression in March of 2008 when I started the diagnosis process. I did this because I wanted to be able to compare my progression with that of my mother’s. Our progression was almost the same until several months after starting the CO and MC. And, little by little the positive changes happened. However, it did take time and apparently a discipline most people don’t have. I say this because I’ve been in touch with numerous people all over the world who are looking for “the magic bullet.” They say they are willing to stick to it over the long term, but lose faith after a few months because the changes don’t come as quickly as wanted.
It’s not magic nor is it a cure, and it may not help everyone. But, when I started kept going because there was nothing else available so what did I have to lose. And, at least I was doing something, which to me is better than nothing!
If you want to learn more about me you can Google “Butch Machlan.” I was surprised when someone said to look there.
Sincerely, Clarence (Butch) Machlan
PS: I feel owe my parents to try to help others with this disease because my father took care of my mother every day at home until her death. He did this because he promised her she would not die in a hospital. Later he told me that was the hardest promise he ever had to keep.
Butch did very well for several years but after some years of extreme stress, he passed away in 2017. You cannot beat ALS with stress in your life. Stress creates massive amounts of free radicals which damage cells. Perhaps he did not increase his magnesium intake enough to overcome the free radicals, which is part of what magnesium does. The food grade magnesium chloride that he used can be found at www.myworldhut.com.
Joyce Brown, PhD, ND
Joyce was diagnosed with ALS in 1988 at the age of 54. She was having trouble swallowing, frequently choked, could barely speak, and her walking was deteriorating daily. Her neurologist gave her 6 months to live. She found a Chinese medical doctor, a very skilled homeopath. To heal, Joyce used prayer, homeopathy, sleep-teaching with positive affirmations, and dietary changes. After her healing she went on to earn her PhD and become qualified as a naturopathic physician and has written books. Joyce is now in her 80’s. She had a desire for most of her life to commit suicide thinking that it was give her peace from her troubled life. She had a near-death experience in 1983. Her passion is to help others realize that suicide is not the answer and there is not peace on the Other Side for those that do. Her work has been in suicide prevention since 1983. Here is her website: www.helpstopsuicide.org.

The information below regarding Falun Dafa was provided by Patricia Tamowski.
- This is information we are sharing, not necessarily a recommendation. A lovely woman and I were discussing why westerners have so much trouble believing that something like falun dafa could possibly work and how it is so foreign to them. She shared her experience with me that she would have died without falun dafa 17 years ago when the doctors could not figure out what was wrong and numbness was working up from her feet, then legs, then midsection. The doctors said if it had gone higher she would have died. She was raised Mormon and she still talks to God and/or Jesus each day with all her heart. So below is a six minute video with a short history and some westerners who now practice it. All materials and practices are totally free. Please also note that even if you are in a wheelchair and have little or no movement you can still do the readings and practice the exercises to the extent that you can. It only takes six minutes to watch it.
