Websites and Books to study for help with ALS
Eric Edney was diagnosed with ALS in 1996. His book: Eric is Winning is worth reading. He has much to offer as he has studied this condition and it’s treatments for 18 years. His protocol may parallel ours, but ours seemed to have worked much faster and with better results. He remains in a motorized scooter for transportation and his voice has not recovered completely. Other than that he functions well. There is much information on his web site. He wrote another book called Surviving without your MD. It has tons of information also. www.ericiswinning.com. There are those that say that Eric is a Scammer because he is making money off his books. Anybody dumb enough to believe he makes even enough to cover his printing cost knows nothing about business. It would be amazing if he comes close to breaking even on his book sales. He is marketing to a pretty exclusive audience. Eric did pass away at 85 in Jan of 2015 from the complications of a stroke and heart attack, not ALS.
Here is his regimen:
http://www.ericiswinning.com/regimen.html - His website has lapsed, but there are efforts to try to get it up aagin.
There is a company working to put together documentaries on both ALS and Alzheimers using natural methods for healing. They have a web site of www.healthadvocatesworldwide.com. They have some valuable videos on the web site already. They are trying also to raise money to help pay for the documentaries.
Places to go for help
The Nielsen Clinic - Dr. Jared Nielsen, D.C.

Terry Wahls, MD. She wrote the book, The Wahls Protocol: A Radical New Way to Treat ALL Chronic Autoimmune Diseases Using Paleo Principles. Dr. Wahls was diagnoses with progressive MS. After finding no help in the allopathic world of medicine, she began to study her brain and what it would take to heal it. She had an amazing recovery using foods. She then became a functional medical doctor also, and has her own clinic. Although she is discussing MS in the book, we believe that all the same principles apply to ALS and other nuerological diseases. In fact, she has had incredible success treating many other diseases using her program.

Hannah Joseph, MD. Dr. Yoseph wrote the book Conquering Lou Gehrig's Disease, The ALS Diet. She explains in great detail how the cells get energy and we know that all PALS are extremely low on energy. She has a whole plan on how to get your body back in PH balance and what to eat to heal. Great resource. She also has a book called Statin-Induced Neuropathy and Myopahty. It gives the science behind why statins can actually cause ALS.
Carolyn Dean, MD, ND. She has specialized in the study of magnesium. She has a book called "The Magnesium Miracle" that probably eveyone should read, but especially those with ALS. She lists 100 reasons why we are magnesium deficient, how to get magnesium in your diet, how to supplement with magnesium and why it so critical that we get the proper amount of magnesium. She has a web, www.drcarolyndean.com. She does a blog and you can google "dr carolyn dean" with a health condition and it will bring up blogs on that issue. Don't miss the article I just googled Dr. Dean for ulcers (which our daughter struggles with) and it contains some incredibly valuable information about coconut oil, also one of those natural products that helps ALS:
http://www.highexistence.com/topic/coconut-oil-by-dr-carolyn-dean-and-its-health-benefits/.
Lisa Richards has put together an article called “The Ultimate Guide to Coconut Products”. She was kind enough to share the article with us. The more we can learn about this wonderful food and learn to use it, the better our health will be. You will find a link to it below. Thank you, Lisa.

Russell Blaylock, MD, neurosurgeon, retired to find answers to neurolgical problems. Both his parents died of Parkinsons. He has an email newsletter. Lots of good information, but some of it is the same as Dr. Mercolas. One key thing I learned from Dr. Blaylock is that if you blenderize your vegetables, you get 80-90% of the value of the vegetable instead of just 15-20 %. So green smoothies really are great. Book: Excitotoxins: The Taste that Kills and others. Excitotoxins discusses the dangers of MSG and aspartame, food additives in most processed foods.
David Perlmutter, MD, neurologist, wrote the books BrainRecovery.com, The Better Brain Book. The Better Brain Book is newer and contains information all of us should know about how to protect our brain from the toxic world we live in. It contains chapters for the more common neurological diseases, explains the issues involved with each one and gives specific suggestions for each one. He explains that the oils we eat have a huge impact on our health. Dr. Perlmutter recommends IV glutathione, but we had a hard time coming up with it. We get the liquid glutathione called Essential GHS from www.wellnesshealth.com. It may not be as good as an IV glutathione, but is easier to take and significantly better than a capsule and available without a prescription. 1 tsp per day provides 433 mg of glutathione which is close to what Dr. Perlmutter recommends daily. Kim accidentally started with 1 tsp AM & PM. I noticed a huge boosts in his strength and feeling that he could not only stop the progression of the ALS but beat it. It was at this point that he realized we could get a motor home and go south for the winter because he would have the strength to do what was necessary to operate it. He now just takes the 1 tsp per day. After taking it for one year and the price going up significantly, we learned that the essential oil of grapefruit will help your body make glutathione, so we would put a few drops of the oil in his drinking water. The cost was far less than the Essential GHS and seemed to work as well.
His new books include Grain Brain and Brain Maker, which discuss the dangers of gluten and how an unhealthy gut can affect the health of your brain.
William Davis, MD, cardiologist, wrote the book Wheat Belly. Dr. Davis has a gluten sensitivity and studied wheat extensively. He says wheat was hybridized about 50 years ago and he tells how it contains a foreign protein and can lead to heart disease, how it is hard on the brain, skin and many other health issues. He includes gluten free recipes in his book. He also helps those that need to lose the "wheat belly", explaining that you can't just quit the gluten if you need to lose weight and replace it with other high carb foods. He explains what foods you need to avoid or limit in order to lose weight.
Paul Harch, MD, wrote the book The Oxygen Revolution. Dr. Harch is one of the world’s leading physicians for hyperbarics. Oxygen heals all kinds of things. We met with Dr. Harch in February of 2013 and he was amazed at what Kim's medical records showed and how well he is doing now. His web site is www.hbot.com. His newest edition of his book, Oxygen Revolution is out as of 2016. I tried to put his advertisement here for him, but was not successful. Sometimes computer work is very frustrating.
Dr. Mark Sircus, wrote the book Anti-Inflammatory Oxygen Therapy which discusses the use of the EWOT system. That is filling a bag with oxygen, then using a mask while exercising to get extra oxygen in the body. Kim adopted that therapy in April of 2017 and there is more information on that in our May and June 2017 updates. The cost is just a tiny fraction of doing hyperbaric therapies and in addition gives exercise to muscles which the hyperbaric therapy does not.
James E Dowd, M.D., wrote a book titled The Vitamin D Cure. Since Vitamin D is so important for your health, this book is probably a must. He discusses in detail why Vitamin D is so important, how to determine if you are Vitamin D deficient (unless you are a lifeguard at a swimming pool, you are probably Vitamin D deficient.) He explains how to correct it. I learned years ago that a Vitamin D level of 70 was important for avoiding cancer. Mine was probably in the 30s or low 40s when I had cancer.
Dr. Vincent Tedone – Dr. Tedone’s daughter, Deanna, was diagnosed with ALS when she was 30. Dr. Tedone quit his practice and studied for 2 years to try to find something that would help her. He developed a protocol of supplements, which he calls the Deanna Protocol, that helped relieve some symptoms. There are 30 supplements. He is very specific that this is not a cure, but is supposed to help until there is a cure. He put together a web site called, www.winningthefight.net. There are videos of Deanna and a man from Mississippi that were helped by the protocol. Dr. Tedone notes that it helps some and not others. If you can’t find the videos on the web site, you can google “Deanna Protocol.” He is trying to raise money for research to find a cure. We believe he does not do enough to address taking care of the toxicity/free radicals in the body. Dr. Tedone has put up an update on Deanna's condition, specifically her Lyme disease find. You may find it interesting. We feel that he is beginning to change his direction a bit. https://www.winningthefight.org/latest-developments
Catherine Ponder - book "The Dynamic Law of Healing". Helps you understand how to use your faith and your mind to heal.
Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. - Book - "The Biology of Belief". Bruce is a cell biologist that taught in mediccal schools. Studying cells taught him about how a cell functions and more than that taught him about spirituality. He thinks that is quite significant since he was a scientist that was also an athiest. He has a number of short videos on Youtube.
Thomas E. Levy, MD, - Book "Curing the Uncurable, Vitamin C, Infectious Diseases, Toxins." This book was a little harder for me to read as I am not a medical professional. However I gleaned from it that we have to get all of our Vitamin C from our diet or supplements. I learned that the FDA recommended amount of Vitamin C will keep you from getting scurvy, but that is about all. Your Vitamin C rushes to fight infections and toxins in your body. Without enough Vitamin C, another infection can take hold and overcome you due to lack of enough Vitamin C. He recommends an optimal dose for an adult is 6000 - 12,000 mg per day. That may be hard to do without eating the whole orange orchard.
